OSGNA BOARD MEETING 11-6-10 1. The meeting was called to order at 1046 at the Jefferson outlet mall food court. 2. Members present: Debbie Vance, Joan Metze, Shirley Flowers, Tina Woods, Kim McNary SECRETARY REPORT: Reported by Kim 1. Minutes from the June 5, 2010 board meeting were read and corrected that the Education / Legislative co- chair position will be eliminated for one term. The minutes were then approved as corrected by Joan and Shirley. TREASURERS REPORT: Reported by Tina 1.Current membership as of 11-2-10 - 219 2. Current IRS gas mileage - 50 cents per mile 3. Account balance as of 11-2-10 - request from treasurer. 4. Debbie recommended we follow the SGNA budget template. Joan will follow up with this. 5. Tina will come to the January meeting to assist the new treasurer with the transition. PRESIDENT ELECT: Reported by Joan 1. Board member pictures will be taken in January 2011. 2. The website will be updated in 2011. 3. OSGNA will discuss in the next term if we want to mimic SGNA by choosing the President Elect from an experienced board member. PAST PRESIDENT: Reported by Kim. 1. The ballot will have to be mailed to each member, as our bylaws require. Joan will set up a bylaw change for the Spring Educational meeting. 2. Candidates on the ballot are: Past President: Debbie Vance, President: Joan Metze, President Elect - Terri Geil Treasurer - Karen Strader, Secretary - Kim McNary, Education / Legislative Liaison - Shirley Flowers, Newsletter / Historian, PR - Sandy Amos EDUCATION / LEGISLATION: Reported by Shirley 1. OSGNA Educational Conference will be in Columbus. Shirley is currently looking for facilities and available dates. Hotel costs are increasing and she is looking into different venues. 2. Multistate - in Kenosha Wisconsin in October 2011, Indiana in 2012, and Kentucky in 2013. The hotel has been chosen with a planning meeting in February. OSGNA is responsible for the event brochure. 3. Nurses Day at the State House - March 23, 2011 in Columbus. Currently there are 60 reservations left. OSGNA will again co-sponsor the event with Shirley as our representative. Shirley would like to present an initiative. Share your topics with Shirley. NEWSLETTER / HISTORIAN / PR: Joan Reporting 1. Newsletter deadline - November 20. 2. The website will be updated in 2011.The first CEU, future ballots, scholarship applications, newsletters, educational conference brochures, Nurse of the year application, events and GI links will be on the website. This will save in postage and printing costs. OLD BUSINESS: 1. Region of the year - Debbie will apply, and wants members to be called to remind them to vote in the National election.
