OSGNA BOARD MEETING 1-22-11 1. The first Board meeting with Joan Metze as OSGNA President was called to order at 1045 at The Roberts Centre In Wilmington. Members present Debbie Vance Joan Metze, Terri Geil, Karen Strader Helton, Shirley Flowers, Tina Sebastian, Val Karlosky and Kim McNary. 2. Joan presented a reflection. 3. New members Terri Geil and Karen Strader Helton were welcomed on the Board. Joan is requesting a short bio from each board member to be included in the first Newsletter. 4. The minutes of the 11-6-2010 Board meeting were read by Kim McNary and approved as written by Debbie and Shirley. 5. Joan presented the 2011-12 officer addresses, phone and fax numbers. 6. Joan reviewed the job descriptions, bylaws and policies and procedures with the new board members. PRESIDENTS REPORT - Joan 1. 19 ballots were returned for the 2011-2012 election. Debbie made a motion to destroy the ballots and Shirley agreed with the motion. 2. Joan presented the new SGNA policies on Vested Interest, Whistleblower Protection Policy and Document Retention and Destruction Policy. 4. There will be a vote at the next Regional Educational Meeting on a bylaw change in which the members can vote on line at the OSGNA website instead of by mail for the bi annual election of the OSGNA Board. A copy of the Report to SGNA was presented 5. The new Medical Advisors are Dr Carmen Meier, and Dr Christopher South. TREASURERS REPORT - Tina 1. Account Balance - request from treasurer. 2. IRS mileage - 50 cents per mile 3. Current membership - 219 4. Gerry Seeger currently is auditing the books for 2010. EDUCATION / LEGISLATION REPORT - Shirley 1. Multistate Educational conference is October 11 2011 in Milwaukee Wisconsin. Ohio is responsible for the brochure. 2. Nurses Day at the State House is March 23, 2011. There will be an optional contact hour at the end of the day. OSGNA will again sponsor the event. Registration is on line at the ONA website. 3. The education committee for the spring regional conference - Chair Shirley Flowers - Sandi Amos, Deb McCormick,Val Karlosky, Karen Strader Helton, and Shirley will contact Kathy Moeller. Shirley will secure a conference site in Columbus. A contact hour on Nursing law and an optional Friday night Contact hour will be attempted. Debbie made a motion to increase the cost of the conference form $55 to $65 for members. The vote was 7 for, 1 against. PAST PRESIDENT - Debbie 1. There is one confirmed vendor. Please send any vendor cards the we have to Debbie. 2. Kim made a motion to keep the vendor table fee at $300. Shirley second the motion. 3. So that we can communicate with our members, Kim will have a table at the meeting to recruit member email addresses. HISTORIAN - Sandi 1.Newsletter deadline - January 31. 2. Dr South will write an article. 3. Joan will contact Erin concerning questionable web fees. NEW BUSINESS - Joan 1. Joan, Karen and Debbie are developing a new budget for 2011 using SGNA forms. 2 There were no educational grant requests. 3. Colon Cancer Walk - 5k on 4-16-11 at Lunken. Kim made a motion for OSGNA to pay for the $200 shelter fee and for one in Columbus, if it is organized. All present approved. $4,500 was raised from the 2010 colon cancer walk and proceeds will go for public advertisements to the Colon Cancer Awareness Task Force of Cincinnati. 4. Debbie made a motion to purchase a new laptop for the President, also to be used at the conferences. The current laptop will be available to all board members but will reside with the treasurer.
